Dutech misses Accell whole, buys Batavus and Koga from bankruptcy

Dutech has bought the Batavus, Koga and Carqon brands from the bankrupt Accell Group. The deal also takes in Loekie, XLC and the Babboe trademarks, Accell's IT systems and platforms, and its Hungarian operations and factory. Dutech's earlier purchase of the whole company failed, and it has now bought these brands and assets out of the bankruptcy.
What this means
Batavus, Koga and Carqon now have a buyer, and the Hungarian factory and IT platform go with them. Raleigh, Lapierre, Haibike, Ghost and Winora remain in separate insolvency proceedings.
Accell's Dutch businesses were declared bankrupt in August after Dutech's purchase of the whole company failed. The Bundeskartellamt had cleared that takeover in July, finding no competition concerns. Dutech's October deal is the first in the insolvency proceedings to include any of Accell's brands, and some 60 parties have allegedly expressed interest in some or all of the assets. Dutech is also in talks to acquire Accell's German operations. The rest of Accell is still in separate proceedings: Accell UK & Ireland, owner of Raleigh; Lapierre, in court-supervised restructuring in Dijon; and Haibike, Ghost and Winora, in self-administration in a local court. Dutech already owns Prophete, Kreidler, vsf fahrradmanufaktur, Rex and e-bike manufaktur, with assembly facilities in Germany and Poland. Its press release calls the investment a «long-term commitment».
