Pogačar's 2027 already points to the Vuelta, not the Giro

Pogačar's agent Alex Carera said on RAI's RadioCorsa that a Vuelta a España start in 2027 is more likely than the Giro d'Italia. Pogačar said earlier in October that he would rather go to the Giro but will have to check off the Vuelta at some point.
What this means
The Vuelta a España 2027 starts on 4 September, and Pogačar will have five days to recover from the Worlds in France before it. The Worlds men's elite road race is on 29 August 2027 in Haute-Savoie. Pogačar's stated wish is the Worlds combined with the Tour and the Vuelta.
Pogačar named the Vuelta as next year's goal himself: «Even if I would rather go to the Giro, I will have to check off the Vuelta at some point. I think that will be the goal for next year.» Carera puts the same logic in his own words: «Tadej clearly has unfinished business with the Vuelta, and he doesn't like having unfinished business». The Vuelta is the Grand Tour Pogačar has not yet won overall, while he won the Giro d'Italia in 2024. His 2026 Vuelta ended with a crash on stage 8, with fractures to his collarbone and a cervical vertebra and a concussion. No confirmation of the 2027 schedule will come until the UAE Team Emirates training camp media day in December. The final decision is due at a collective training period in the UAE, with sports directors, Mauro Gianetti and Joxean Matxin Fernandez.
