Brand's Canyon-SRAM deal sets her road career end date

Lucinda Brand leaves Lidl-Trek for Canyon-SRAM on a two-year contract. The deal maps the rest of her road career: Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2028 as the planned finale, then a role on the technical staff.
What this means
Canyon-SRAM now has a veteran for its classics squad for the next two years, in the words of Aldag, who said she would bring stability. The team enters 2027 with Scalable Capital as title sponsor.
Brand, 37, will race for Canyon-SRAM targeting stage and one-day races, with Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2028 as the planned end of her road career and a velodrome finish planned as her finale. After that she moves to a staff role at the team. Her own words put the finale at the centre of the decision: «When the opportunity came along to potentially finish my road cycling career at Paris-Roubaix, I knew straight away that it was a chance I had to grab with both hands». She finished third at Paris-Roubaix in 2022 and tenth in 2026. Rolf Aldag says the team needs «the right mix of potential versus experience and leadership», with half the roster 24 or younger. He also called her a stabilising factor for the spring classics. She will ride alongside Shirin van Anrooij.
