Evenepoel won the Montreal time trial for the fourth year running. No man has done that consecutively before — Cancellara and Martin both got to four titles, never in a row.
He led at every intermediate split and beat Filippo Ganna by 57 seconds over 39.2km. Sunday's road race is the real target now: win it, and Evenepoel becomes the first man to hold both elite world titles in the same year. «It's amazing. It was obviously the goal to come here and win for the fourth time in a row… It was a big motivation» — Evenepoel.
