Jakob Ormzel won stage 12 of the Vuelta a España on Calar Alto, alone, on his Grand Tour debut. The 'Mini-Pogačar' tag is already redundant — he just broke Pogačar's own record as Slovenia's youngest Grand Tour stage winner, and he's on record wanting no part of the comparison.
Ormzel, 20, attacked from the breakaway with 13km left on the highest summit finish of this Vuelta and won by 1:56 over Urko Berrade. It's a first WorldTour victory, delivered on the queen stage of his first Grand Tour. «I'd like the world to know me as Jakob Ormzel, not as a copy of someone else,» he said before this result gave him a record of his own to point to.
