Mads Pedersen was dropped roughly 30km from the finish of stage 10 and crossed the line 163rd — a Tour de France green jersey winner reduced to the back of the bunch. He's now openly weighing whether to abandon the Vuelta a España entirely.
This isn't a bad sprint or a missed split — it's a rider who won four Grand Tour points classifications getting shelled with a third of the stage still to go. Pedersen told Eurosport the level "is not there right now," and that something beyond normal fatigue is off. The stakes go beyond this race: he's also worried about holding one of Denmark's eight spots for the Worlds road race in Montréal.
