Matt Winston is leaving Team Picnic PostNL for a sports director role at Decathlon CMA CGM Team, stepping down at the close of the 2026 road season. Seven years in, this isn't churn — it breaks the Spekenbrink–Winston axis that has been the team's operational spine for a decade.
Other teams tried to pull Winston away before; he stayed loyal to the Picnic PostNL project until now, which is what makes this exit different from a standard staff move. He joined in 2019 as a race coach and rose to head sports director, giving the team a rare continuity in leadership through constant rider turnover. That continuity ends at the close of the 2026 road season, with Winston moving to Decathlon CMA CGM Team for 2027.
