Mavi García just extended with UAE Team L'IMAD into 2027, at 42. She didn't reach UCI level until 2015 — so the clock she's racing against was never the same one everyone else started.
García came to cycling from duathlon and triathlon, turning pro at an age when most riders are already mid-career. That late start reframes what "42" means for her: a 2025 stage win at the Tour de France Femmes and a Worlds bronze at 41 weren't a farewell tour, they were evidence she was still improving. «Because I started so late, everything happened differently,» she said of the decision — and the team, stacked with leaders like Elisa Longo Borghini, apparently agreed there was still a job for her to do.
