No team or medical report confirms Luca Van Boven suffered a collapsed lung or broken ribs at the 2026 Vuelta a España. What's on record: he finished stage 7 last, 33 minutes down, after Alessandro Romele's stiff-legged wobble over a speed hump pushed him into the kerb.
The jury's own report lists Van Boven's injuries as "various bruises" — nothing close to the collapsed lung and broken ribs now circulating. Romele picked up a yellow card for the incident, but the race organizers have issued no withdrawal notice for Van Boven, and Lotto-Intermarché hasn't announced one either. Until that changes, the story is a rider who crashed and still finished the stage, not one who quit the race.
