Pogačar won stage 6, but he had to share the finish-line clock with Enric Mas to do it. Both riders crossed in 4h 12' 40" on the gravel of El Bartolo, and Mas is now the closest thing to a credible challenger in this Vuelta.
Mas moved to second overall, 3:34 down, after matching Pogačar step for step once the pair broke clear of the group behind — Ramses Debruyne came in third, already 46 seconds back. This is the strongest response to Pogačar of anyone in the race so far. A gap of 3:34 is still commanding, but it's a different story than the routine solo margins Pogačar has been building elsewhere.
