Prudhomme: Pogačar may win both Tour time trials

Prudhomme says the 2027 route is not an anti-Pogačar strategy, and that Pogačar «aime les défis» and may win both time trials. He also acknowledges the route suits Paul Seixas more. The organiser's own account leaves the 71 km of time trialling open to Pogačar.
What this means
The 71 km of time trialling no longer reads as a clear opening for Evenepoel and Seixas, because the race director himself names Pogačar as a possible winner of both. Philippa York still has Pogačar as favourite for 2027.
The 71 km of time trialling across two 30+ km efforts is the most TT kilometres since 2012, against a low of 22 km in 2023 and one 26 km TT in 2026. Prudhomme says the route favours puncheurs and big rouleurs, and that Remco Evenepoel and Seixas would gain from those kilometres. He also says a route can favour a type of rider but is never drawn for one rider. Yet he also says Pogačar may be the one to win both time trials. That is a director describing a course with three summit finishes and the fewest high mountains for a decade, and still not conceding it to the riders he says it suits. His hope for suspense rests on Seixas: «Si Paul Seixas progresse autant entre 2026 et 2027 qu'il a progressé cette année, on va avoir un été formidable».
