Red Bull says Roglič can win a fifth Vuelta a España. They also say his trademark trait — getting stronger as the race grinds on — is no longer something they can count on. Ten days of missed prep don't just cost fitness, they cost the predictability his last four titles were built on.
Sven Vanthourenhout puts it plainly: «He missed 10 important days, and we still have 10 days to go. So we stay careful.» It's worth noting his time trials haven't been world-beating since 2022 anyway — one of his classic Vuelta weapons was already dulled before the crash. Red Bull's own squad objectives now list stage wins first, GC second, which tells you where the real confidence sits.
