Schachmann leaves Soudal-Quick Step, no new team named

Maximilian Schachmann announced on Instagram that he is leaving Soudal-Quick Step, and he did not name a new team. He was not selected for any Grand Tour in 2026, and his last race for the team was Il Lombardia, where he finished 50th.
What this means
Schachmann is leaving with no new team announced. Radsport-news puts his market chances as good, given his recovery and second-half form.
Schachmann returned to Soudal Quick-Step for 2025 after six years at Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe. In his first Soudal Quick-Step season he won the opening time trial of the Itzulia Basque Country and later the German national time trial title. In July 2026 a tendinopathy at the origin of the hamstring was diagnosed, which he said caused partial performance losses. After treatment his results came back: 17th at the Tour of Poland, 9th at the Deutschland Tour and 10th at GP de Quebec. The recovery did not change the selection: no Grand Tour in 2026, and a 50th place at Il Lombardia as his final race for the team. Radsport-news writes that his chances on the team market should be good given his recovery and second-half form.
