The R9300 surfaced on Alpecin-Premier Tech bikes at stage 1, confirming the 13th gear that Shimano E-Tube Project telegraphed in February — but the architecture stays semi-wireless, with a wired connection between derailleurs. The most visible hardware change is a protruding thumb button on the shifter hoods, a clear break from the flush profile that defined R9200. The extra sprocket means a redesigned freehub body: owners of existing wheels will need to swap it before a 13-speed cassette fits. Still no official announcement from Shimano.
