Stefan Küng won Stage 18 of the Vuelta a España, the 32.1km time trial from El Puerto de Santa María to Jerez de la Frontera, with Wout van Aert fourth after fading late. Enric Mas started the day defending a 2:10 lead over Primož Roglič, with Felix Gall a further four seconds back in the GC picture.
At the first checkpoint, 11.2km in, Roglič was 22 seconds up on Mas — a pace that, if held, was never going to erase the 2:10 deficit over the full 32.1km. Küng was chasing a second Grand Tour time trial stage win, two years on from his first Vuelta win at this level, and he delivered it.
