Whaleroad R7: 1x14 wireless, 418% range, no flagship theatrics

Whaleroad didn't stage a launch for the R7 — it just sat on the Cykl stand at Sea Otter Europe 2026, a working 1x14 prototype among the rest of the expo floor. A 418% range from a single ring beats most 2x setups, and it's a spread SRAM and Shimano haven't touched at 12-speed, and one Campagnolo needed 13 to approach. That gap is the point: an established brand risking a 14th cog means new tooling, new pricing, new warranty exposure. A challenger with nothing to protect can just build it and see who buys in.
