Filippo Ganna has signed a three-year contract with Lidl-Trek through 2029, ending his Netcompany-Ineos deal early. He had one year left, and the exit needed the agreement of three parties. Lidl-Trek announced the signing; Netcompany-Ineos had not acknowledged the departure at that point and has 16 riders rostered for 2027.
What this means
Netcompany-Ineos goes into 2027 with 16 riders rostered and a departure it had not acknowledged when Lidl-Trek announced the signing. Lidl-Trek has now confirmed eight new arrivals for 2027.
Ganna was Netcompany-Ineos's rider for eight seasons after joining from UAE Team Emirates in 2019, and he won Grand Tour stages, two world titles, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the UCI Hour Record with the team. He leaves with that contract running through the 2027 season. Lidl-Trek's gain is concrete: Ganna is its eighth confirmed new arrival for 2027, after Felix Gall, Gregor Mühlberger, Jordi Meeus, Georg Zimmermann, Jordan Jegat, Igor Arrieta and Héctor Álvarez. He joins Italian track compatriots Jonathan Milan and Simone Consonni, and Cyclingnews suggests the lead-out could be a strong partnership at the Giro d'Italia. The team is in transition, with Andy Schleck taking over from Luca Guercilena in summer 2026. Ganna sees Mads Pedersen as the team's number one, and says he has big goals in the Classics.
