Tas wins Eneco Tour stage 1 by going right; Kool's complaint fails

Sandrine Tas (Lotto Intermarché) won stage 1 of the Eneco Tour Women 2026 in Ede, outsprinting Charlotte Kool after the two-rider breakaway was caught in the final 250 metres. Kool was squeezed toward the barriers by Barbara Guarischi and had to restart her effort, yet the commissaires judged Guarischi did not deviate from her line, so the result stands. Tas wears the orange jersey, one second ahead of Lieke Nooijen.
What this means
Tas takes the orange jersey from Nooijen, and Kool, who was second on the stage, sits three seconds off the lead.
Tas said her team positioned her for the last corner and that she knew she was in the right wheel. Her sprint came out of the slipstream of Guarischi, who moved across to the barriers as Kool tried to pass on the left. Kool recovered to pass on the right but could not catch Tas. «When I saw they started the sprint on the left, I just went full on the right.» Kool gestured angrily at Guarischi after the line, but Guarischi was not relegated. Tas, who finished fourth in the prologue, took the lead with the winning bonus seconds: one ahead of prologue winner Nooijen and three ahead of Kool.
