Mikayla Smith rode the 1,067 km Munda Biddi Trail from Mundaring to Albany in 3 days and 10 hours, a new women's Fastest Known Time. She beat the previous women's record by six hours. She had ridden the trail twice before, once on a hardtail mountain bike without racing the clock.
Smith started at 3am on Thursday, 1 October 2026, from her driveway in Mundaring, Western Australia. Cassia Boglio and Zac Williams followed at the start and stayed nearby as witnesses. Bikepacking.com gave her time as 3 days, 10 hours and 19 seconds, almost six hours ahead of Sacha Dowell's 2021 record, and listed the route as 1,060 km. The Munda Biddi Trail is described as the world's longest continuous off-road cycling trail. She reached Albany after eight days on her first ride: «I got to Albany after eight days and was like, 'Oh yeah, let's turn around and go back the other way.'» In October 2020 she rode the whole trail in four and a third days as part of the inaugural Munda Biddi Ultra. Of the trail she says: «I just love the trail – it's home,' muses Smith» In 2023, Jack Thompson completed the trail in 2 days, 12 hours and 15 minutes with 17 minutes of sleep.
