Paul Seixas won Il Lombardia 2026 by riding Tom Pidcock and Giulio Ciccone off his wheel on the Civiglio. Cyclingnews called it "not exactly an attack", and he was clear and alone from there to Como. In a monument without Tadej Pogačar, the gap opened through tempo, not a jump, and a 20-year-old was the one setting it.
TNT Sports says Seixas was never seen making a serious attack and led by 27 seconds at the top of the Civiglio after forcing rivals off one by one. Decathlon CMA CGM sports director Julien Jurdie said Seixas had picked out where he wanted to move on the climb before the race began. He finished 48 seconds ahead of Enric Mas, with Ciccone at 1:05. At 20 years and 16 days he is the youngest winner in the race's history, ahead of Giovanni Gerbi, and the result is both his first Monument and Decathlon CMA CGM's first.
