Front / rear depth51mm / 48mm
Weight1,305g (-215g vs CLX II)
Front-wheel drag share90%
Spoke material saving~100g vs steel (carbon, w/ Arris Composites)
Enve, Reserve, and Hunt all build their aero flagships shallow-front, deep-rear. The Rapide CLX III does the opposite, because Roval's tunnel data puts 90% of a wheelset's aero drag at the front wheel — so that's where the depth belongs. The payoff isn't just a philosophy flip: it's 215g shed off the CLX II with the same aero gains, helped by carbon spokes developed with Arris Composites. Roval's own past testing already hinted at this — a 64mm front paired with a 33mm rear Alpinist held 90% of a matched-depth setup's aero performance at a fraction of the weight.
