Wolf Tooth's cheaper ALT XC pedal trades tuning for $60 off

Wolf Tooth releases a lower-cost version of its ALT XC SPD pedal
Dave Rome
Wolf Tooth Components has released the ALT Performance XC, a $159.95 version of its ALT XC pedal that costs $60 less than the standard model. The savings come from real trade-offs: a fixed 55mm Q-factor instead of the adjustable 51/55/59mm spindle, forged and post-machined aluminum instead of CNC-machined 6061-T6, chromoly steel axles instead of stainless, and Taiwan manufacturing instead of USA machining.
Every line of the spec sheet reads as a deliberate downgrade, not a lesser attempt at the same pedal. What it gave up was tunability — the standard ALT XC's adjustable Q-factor was one of its defining features — along with USA machining. With this release, ALT becomes the first Wolf Tooth pedal model to span all three of its tiers: Premium, Performance, and MKØ. The ALT Performance XC ships in five colors and stays inside Wolf Tooth's Right to Repair program with available replacement parts.
