Van Kerckhove picks Visma through 2030 over a 2028 WorldTour plan

Visma-Lease a Bike confirmed the signing of Seff Van Kerckhove, 18, on a contract running until the end of 2030. He joins Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development in 2027, with a possible fast track to the WorldTour. Reportedly he had agreed to stay in Decathlon CMA CGM's development team in 2027 and move to the WorldTour in 2028, then chose Visma instead.
What this means
Van Kerckhove leaves Decathlon's pathway, where he raced for the U19 squad.
The Decathlon CMA CGM deal was reported by Sporza on 2026-10-03 before Visma moved in. Visma's route to the WorldTour is a possible fast track from the development team. The contract runs until the end of 2030. His older brother Matisse Van Kerckhove, 20, graduates to Visma's WorldTour roster in 2027, and the two will ride together. Visma's pathway has a recent example: Per Strand Hagenes joined the development squad in 2022 and moved to the WorldTour in 2024. Van Kerckhove won 11 races in 2026, including time trials and mountain stages on the European junior circuit. He was struck by a car in training in September and could not ride the European junior championships. Visma says he is recovering well.
