WTB's CGR i28 arrives as the last piece of a lineup built around it
WTB has announced the CGR i28, a carbon gravel wheelset with 40mm-deep, 28mm-wide internal rims built for 45-54mm tires. The hubs aren't new — Frequency 7X already won at World Cup level with Cannondale Factory Racing before this launch, and the rim is built for the 45-54mm tires WTB already sells. This isn't a standalone wheel launch so much as the last piece of a component system WTB has been assembling piece by piece.
Luca Martin won the Lenzerheide XCO World Cup on June 23, 2026 aboard Reserve Wheels running WTB's Frequency 7X hubs, giving the ratchet system its racing credentials months before it appeared in a gravel wheel. Before announcing the CGR i28, WTB had already released aero-optimized gravel tires — the Byway RS 50, Course 52, and Macro 54.
