A spectator's phone, not a race jury, ended Eleuterio Anguita Hinojosas's championship. His car cleared a pedestrian crossing with its rear wheels off the ground, metres from fans standing at the barriers — and once that clip started circulating, the UCI had no room left to look away.
Anguita has coached Spain's junior men's road team since January 2015 and won a stage at the Vuelta a España as a pro. He spent Benjamín Noval's double-gold moment posting celebration photos on Instagram, already fined 1,000 Swiss francs and expelled from the rest of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships. The footage made the outcome automatic — Article 2.12.007.6.3 doesn't leave much to interpret once the video exists.
