Bronzini joins Visma-Lease a Bike as sports director
Visma-Lease a Bike have signed Giorgia Bronzini as sports director for the women's WorldTour team for the 2027 season. The 43-year-old two-time world road champion moves over from Human Powered Health. She will work closely with the squad's younger riders, including 19-year-old under-23 world champion Viktória Chladoñová, on tactical development and race reading.
Bronzini won the road world title twice, in 2010 and 2011, both times beating Marianne Vos to the rainbow jersey, and she also took the track points race world title in 2009. She retired from racing at the end of 2018, spent three years as a director with Trek-Segafredo, then two seasons at Liv Racing from 2022 before joining Human Powered Health ahead of the 2024 season. At Visma-Lease a Bike she reunites with Vos, her former sprint rival, now as a teammate on the staff side. «Marianne and I raced against each other for many years, and there was always a lot of respect between us. It is very special to now be on the same side and to have the opportunity to support Marianne achieve her goals» — Giorgia Bronzini. Team manager Rutger Tijssen said: «Giorgia knows women's cycling from the inside and had a strong understanding of the dynamics within the peloton. That experience is very valuable to us». He added that she «will be dedicated to working with our younger riders, particularly on their tactical development and understanding of how to read a race».
