Cavallar tested at home hours after her mother died

Valentina Cavallar underwent an anti-doping control at home in the hours after her mother's death, in the room next to where her mother lay. The control took place in September 2026. Her Instagram post does not say which organisation conducted the test or whether she asked for a delay.
What this means
The International Testing Agency has been contacted for comment by Velo.
Cavallar disclosed the control on 12 October, and the post is also how her mother's death became public. She called the experience «deeply painful, profoundly out of place and disrespectful towards my family.» She framed it plainly: «I was a daughter who had just lost her mum.» She also said she understands the importance of clean sport and has always respected a professional athlete's responsibilities. Velo contacted the International Testing Agency for comment. Riders in the registered testing pool report whereabouts and designate a daily 60-minute window, but testers can also arrive unannounced outside it. Cavallar's season ended after the Tour de France Femmes, where she withdrew before the final stage citing personal and family reasons.
