Ganna-Lidl-Trek talks accelerate, but the roster isn't ready

Filippo Ganna is in negotiations that could see him leave Netcompany-Ineos a year early to sign with Lidl-Trek from 2027, according to Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport. Scognamiglio calls it a scenario, not a done deal, with talks in progress.
The timing is the tell: reports describe developments accelerating in recent days, and the interest is mutual, with Ganna reportedly keen on the German WorldTour team. But Lidl-Trek has no open slot to offer. The team has already locked in Juan Ayuso, Felix Gall, Jordi Meeus, Igor Arrieta, Gregor Mühlberger and Jordan Jegat for 2027, filling out that provisional 30-rider roster. None of that frees up Ganna himself, who signed a four-year extension with Ineos Grenadiers in 2023 running through 2027. A move would also reunite him with track teammates Jonathan Milan and Simone Consonni.
