LTGP leaders make the opposite call from Johnston
Keegan Swenson and Sofia Gomez Villafane, the Life Time Grand Prix's overall leaders, are racing the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup rather than Little Sugar Mountain Bike, which falls on the same weekend. That's the reverse of the choice Brendan Johnston made:
What this means
With the series' top two skipping Little Sugar, Johnston's decision to defend his LTGP position there now carries a clearer path to climbing the standings in their absence.
Gomez Villafane leads the LTGP with 90 points, 12 ahead of Lauren Stephens and 14 ahead of Cecily Decker, while Swenson sits on 84, 8 clear of both Johnston and Bradyn Lange. Both said earlier in the season they were heading to Australia, so this isn't a late swap but a plan they're sticking to even as it costs them a shot at Little Sugar. The gap each leaves behind is tight enough that missing the round is a real risk to the overall, the same math that pushed Johnston the other way.
