Niewiadoma-Phinney explains the Lidl-Trek move in her own words

Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney Signs with Lidl-Trek in Move that Will Reshape the Women’s Peloton

Niewiadoma-Phinney has spelled out why she made the switch: «I'm looking forward to working with people and professionals who have a fresh look at my abilities and at what we can achieve together, being guided from a different perspective and just new fresh air.»
Lidl-Trek has already been cast, including by Escape Collective's own analysis, as gaining 'a leader to build around.' Niewiadoma-Phinney's own words point somewhere else entirely. She talks about wanting people with a fresh look at her abilities and a different perspective guiding her — language about how she's coached and developed, not about who she needs to beat. It doesn't contradict the GC-leader job Lidl-Trek has given her, but it does mean the rider herself isn't selling this move as a title chase.
