Ren Bao Tsen's second place fulfills the podium promise he made a year ago
Yuhi Todome won the Best Asian Rider category at Le Tour de Langkawi 2026, with Ren Bao Tsen second, 3:44 behind. A year ago Ren Bao posted on Instagram that he wanted that podium back; this time he said it to a reporter mid-race, and finished exactly where he'd aimed. "I feel 'empty' right now, but I am proud to have taken second place... maybe next year I will aim for that jersey".
Before Stage 3 of this year's race, sitting third in the Asian classification, he named the jersey directly: "Last year on my Instagram post I said I wanted to come back for that podium, now I'm sitting third and I want the jersey". He didn't get it — Todome's lead was unassailable from Stage 5 onward — but second place, 3:44 back, is the closest he's come.
