Riley Pickrell wins stage 6 of Le Tour de Langkawi 2026
Riley Pickrell won stage 6 of Le Tour de Langkawi 2026, the 121.3km run from Pandan Indah to Rembau, ahead of Matteo Malucelli of XDS-Astana Team and Seppe Van Den Boer of Tudor Pro Cycling Team. It was his first professional win in over a year, arriving after he had finished second to Malucelli in stages 1 and 3. Modern Adventure Pro Cycling's lead-out, with Scott McGill delivering him into the sprint, put him in position. «The only reason I won today was that the boys put me in a better position than Malucelli's boys,» Pickrell said.
Across the race's four main sprint stages, Pickrell took one win and three second-place finishes, plus a fifth place in a stage where a breakaway took the top four spots. He did not win the final stage on October 4 but kept finishing in the top two throughout. «If I have consistency, it means my teammates are always dropping me off in a good position where I can sprint to a top three. So this week I can really only say thanks to my team because they're the reason why it's so consistent,» Pickrell said. He added that the team lacked that consistency earlier in the year: «We didn't have this kind of consistency at the beginning of this year because we had never worked with each other before. We didn't have the processes». Pickrell joined Modern Adventure Pro Cycling in 2026 after five years with Israel-Premier Tech, and his first professional victory came at stage 2a of the Sibiu Cycling Tour in 2024. Modern Adventure, a UCI ProTeam based in Greenville, South Carolina, founded by George Hincapie and his brother Richard, is in its first season racing in 2026. Earlier in the year Pickrell was runner-up in stage 4 of the Tour of Turkiye and third in the opening stage of the Arctic Race of Norway. After stage 1 of Le Tour de Langkawi, he said of the team: «They really sold the team, and what they sold is exactly what I've got so I'm really happy».
