Van Baarle's season ends in car collision during training

Dylan van Baarle fractured his wrist on October 7 when a car hit him during a training ride in Tiel. Surgery is required, and his debut season at Soudal–Quick-Step is over before it had a full chance to start.
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot said van Baarle took a serious hit to the head and that the helmet "definitely saved his life." A CT scan found no damage to his skull or spine. The wrist fracture ends the year for a rider who signed with Soudal–Quick-Step this season after leaving Team Jumbo–Visma — his first campaign under the new jersey closed by a road, not a race.
