G5-X launches with 53mm tyre clearance, below gravel's 57mm trend.

Colnago introduces G-5X gravel racer
Escape Collective
Colnago's 53mm tyre clearance on the G5-X sits below the 55-57mm now offered by Canyon Grail, Factor Elara and Specialized Crux. Pricing starts at £5,299 for the SRAM Rival AXS XPLR build and rises to £9,999 for the top SRAM Red AXS XPLR / Zipp 303 XPLR SW spec, with the range launching with electronic shifting only, in three specs. Colnago explains the geometry trade-off directly: «The idea is to trade some of the snappy, tight-corner acceleration... for predictability during ultra-endurance races like Badlands».
The G5-X's upper geometry — stack, reach, seat tube angle — carries over unchanged from the G4-X. The frame weighs a claimed 950g for a size 51 with a 420g fork, and the range-topping Red XPLR AXS build in size 48 comes in at a claimed 7.2kg with 50mm tyres. New additions include integrated downtube storage with a replacement plate for standard cages, external mounts under the downtube and on the fork legs for ultra-endurance racing, and Fidlock magnetic bottle-cage mounts with twin-compatible bottles. The top two builds get Colnago's CC.01 Wide integrated cockpit with 30mm flare, 72.5mm reach, and widths of 40cm at the hoods and 44cm at the drops, with stem options from 80mm to 120mm. European pricing runs €4,900 to €9,200 in France, with regional variation. Colnago's Davide Fumagalli frames the range as covering short fast races, 200-300km self-supported events, and long-distance ultra-endurance formats: «Gravel racing means a lot of things nowadays... [the bike must be able to afford] races where you need to use a super-fast tyre and races where you need a 50mm tyre».
